In close collaboration with Singapore Power Group, HDB will make Tengah a Smart Energy Town with a Centralised Cooling System and Electric Vehicle charging points. Extensive deployment of Solar Photovoltaic Panels will help to power these features as well as common areas in the precinct.
Centralised Cooling System
Residents in selected Tengah projects have the option of subscribing to a Centralised Cooling System (CCS) which is a more energy-efficient solution to keep their homes cool than conventional air-conditioning systems. Chilled water will be piped to homes from centralised chillers installed on the rooftops of selected HDB blocks. CCS subscribers can monitor and control their usage via an app and save up to 30% in life cycle costs.
Solar Photovoltaic Panels
In addition to the usual horizontal solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, vertical solar PV panels will be neatly integrated with the block façade of selected projects in Tengah. The solar energy collected will be used to power the CCS, as well as supplement the electricity supply for electric-vehicle charging.
Electric Vehicle-Ready Infrastructure
Up to 10% of carpark lots will have infrastructure that support charging of electric vehicles (EV). This will make it easier for residents to opt for EVs, which create less environmental pollution.
