Here are the trade conditions you need to take note of, if you plan to rent out your shop. Kindly note that renting out of units within HDB office complexes is not applicable.
For retail shops, both you and the proposed subtenant should be sharing the shop front.
For units rented out for specific trades or uses, the proposed subtenant's trade(s) must fulfil the conditions stated during tender allocation. For example, if the unit is let out only for office use, no change of use or trade will be considered.
The subtenant’s trade must not duplicate trades that are already available in the same cluster of shops.
You do not require our prior consent to rent out your whole shop or part of your shop trading area for retail or service trades that do not involve any change of use. You are encouraged to update the trade details in RetailerLink, and this will be reflected on our Where2Shop online business directory, where the public can obtain information on the variety of goods and services provided in our HDB shops.
If your tenant's proposed trade involves a change of use, you can refer to the section on change of use for further information.
For shops within HDB shopping complexes, please submit the application to the respective Managing Agents. The proposed tenant’s trade is subject to our approval.
Note: Where the renting out of an HDB commercial property is by an owner, the word 'tenant' shall apply. Otherwise, the word 'subtenant' shall apply.
