Assistive-living technologies help residents live independently, safely, and comfortably in their homes by improving the ease of daily activities. An example is fall detection, implemented through devices known as fall detectors.

Fall detectors use non-intrusive technology to identify falls by detecting sudden changes in body motion and recognising when a person remains in a fallen position. Upon detecting a fall, the device sends an alert to the designated next-of-kin or care service provider. 

 

 

While designed to enhance the safety of seniors and older adults, fall detectors can benefit individuals of any age who may be at risk of falls due to medical conditions or mobility issues.

HDB has partnered with market-ready commercial vendors, who work with care service providers, to offer optional fall detection packages to HDB households. The following commercial providers offer fall detection packages:

 

   

 

GETT Technologies offers a slim and compact fall detector designed for wall mounting. It scans the room using advanced motion-sensing (mmWave radar) to detect falls.

 

  

SoundEye's device uses Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) to identify falls and has a microphone to detect screams. It can capture brief recordings of the incident.

 

 

                  

PreSAGE is a thermal sensor-based solution that enables privacy-preserved fall detection and monitoring.

 

WeCare’s millimetre wave radar enables high-accuracy fall detection by using precise, non-invasive sensing to monitor movement and detect falls in real time.
