Plantation District will be green, sustainable, and smart, with 4 key ideas underpinning its development:

Spaces for community gardening and farming
Plantation District is planned to be the home of community farming, and a key feature of the district is the Plantation Farmway. Spanning about 40 metres wide and 700 metres long, it will weave through the housing precincts and connect the community and recreational facilities within the district. The Plantation Farmway will also serve as a green connector, linking residents to other key facilities and amenities in Tengah town, such as the town centre, Central Park and Forest Stream.

As residents of Tengah, you will be able to enjoy farm-to-table dining by growing your own produce and share the fruits of your harvest at farmers’ markets along the Farmway. These activities offer opportunities for everyone to experience a new lifestyle, connect with one another, and bring back the kampung spirit.

Green pockets for relaxation and community interaction
2 Community Quadrangles will be located within the Plantation Farmway. Designed as green pockets with towering trees lined up in a manner reminiscent of trees in a plantation, residents can relax under the shade or gather for a chat on seats sheltered by trellises.

Flanking the Plantation Farmway, the Grand Piazza – a sprawling open green designed with a small stage – will provide more opportunities for community interaction. At approximately 1,000 square metres in size, residents can experience and participate in community events such as exhibitions, bazaars, and community performances.

Thematic playgrounds to inspire imaginative play
Along the Plantation Farmway, there will be thematic playgrounds inspired by nature and motifs of fruits and vegetables. These themed playgrounds will encourage imaginative play and act as natural conversation starters amongst children and adults alike.

Garden Farmway
A key feature of the district will be the Garden Farmway. Spanning approximately 40 metres wide on average and 900 metres long, this greenway will meander through the housing precincts. With recreational, social, and communal facilities lining both sides, the Farmway will serve as a green recreational corridor linking the precincts in Garden District together.

Bringing the community together through gardening
Within the Garden Farmway, HDB will partner NParks to provide about 3,000 square metres of space for community and allotment gardening where residents will be able enjoy farm-to-table dining as they grow their own produce and share the fruits of their harvest. These activities will offer residents the opportunity to experience a different lifestyle, connect with one another, and bring back the kampung spirit.

Seamless connection to key town facilities and neighbouring districts
The Garden Farmway will also connect Tengah residents to 2 key recreational features in Tengah Town. One end of the Farmway leads to Tengah Pond, where residents will be able to enjoy various retail and recreational facilities and take a stroll along the waterfront promenade. The other end leads residents to the future Central Park, an extensive 20-hectare green lung where residents can enjoy a variety of activities. The Central Park also flanks the western side of Garden District, acting as a green buffer between homes and the future Jurong Innovation District.

Park District will be encircled by lush landscaping and the Forest Corridor that flanks Park District’s northern border, bringing to life the vision of vibrant urban living in a park-like setting. Here, residents can conveniently discover their town, easily access nature at their doorsteps, and connect with each other.

Central Park
Residents will be able to enjoy daily strolls in the park, with the upcoming Central Park a stone’s throw away from their homes. Central Park will feature the Forest Stream, an existing canal that will be naturalised and landscaped, providing a picturesque environment for recreational activities.

Rainforest Walk
Further extending the park experience is a 1.5-kilometre-long Rainforest Walk, which weaves through the housing projects and connects Central Park to the Forest Fringe. Residents can look forward to facilities such as nature-themed playgrounds, open green spaces, and seating areas along the Rainforest Walk. The planting along the Rainforest Walk will be layered to mimic the emergent canopy and understorey layers found in a tropical rainforest. Features such as vegetated swales and rain gardens at various points will add the finishing touches and help bring the rainforest experience to life.

Tengah Town Centre
Residents can look forward to Singapore’s first “car-free” Town Centre where the roads are planned to run beneath the Town Centre, freeing up space at the ground level for an array of commercial and retail spaces, eateries, the Neighbourhood Centre, as well as the future Jurong Region Line (JRL).

Separated from roads and traffic, the heart of the town centre will be safe and friendly for residents to walk and cycle. This will boost the town centre’s seamless pedestrian connectivity to Central Park and the other surrounding social-communal green links

A key feature of Park District will be Tengah’s “car-free” town centre which will be integrated with the nearby Central Park.

Neighbourhood Centre with polyclinic
The neighbourhood centre will include a polyclinic and a “retail street” – a linear pedestrian mall which includes shops and a Residents’ Network Centre. Estimated to complete in 2025, residents will be able to look forward to about 40 shops providing food and retail options, commercial services (e.g. hair salons, tuition centres, etc.), a food court, and a supermarket to meet residents’ daily needs.
