This e-Service allows the user to check the indicative estimate cost of buying the recess area outside the flat.

A1: Before using this e-Service in HDB InfoWEB, you will need to check the following:
(i) Your flat is not built after 1996 or under a Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) project.
(ii) The space outside your flat does not contains service ducts such as gas pipes, water meters, electrical ducts and/or electrical risers.
(iii) Your flat is not located next to a corner unit.
(iv) Your flat is not located next to the opening that leads to the canopy of the protruding access balcony.
(v) Your flat is not located in a point block where it is the only unit on the floor which has the recess area
You need to check how big the available recess area outside your flat is. If you are unsure, a recess area is about 4 to 6 square metres in area.
A2: After receiving your application via our e-Services, the HDB will carry out an inspection to your flat to determine whether the space meets technical requirements relating to design, access, fire safety and ventilation under the Sale of Recess Area Scheme. You will be informed in writing subsequently.
A3: You can submit your application to purchase the area outside your flat through My HDBPage. Once you have logged in using your NRIC number or SingPass:
1. Click on "Add e-Services to Favourites"
2. Followed by "Residential" and "Living in an HDB Flat"
3. Look for "Application to Purchase Recess Area".
A4: e-Services is for all current owners of HDB flats.
A5: You may also incur additional cost for relocating service ducts, fittings, or fixtures out of the recess area, and for renovation works to be carried out.
