An annual celebration of the community spirit in our heartlands, the HDB Community Week exhibits the rich tapestry of our heartland experiences, through an array of exciting and engaging activities.
The HDB Community Week 2019 was held at Kampung Admiralty Community Plaza from 25 to 26 May 2019, and at Oasis Terraces from 1 to 2 June 2019. Exciting programmes and activities were also held island-wide for all to enjoy!
The HDB Community Week 2019 was launched at the Kampung Admiralty Community Plaza on 25 May 2019. More than 3,800 people joined us for our annual celebration of life in the heartlands, and participated in various performances, workshops, and an exhibition showcasing our outstanding volunteers, interesting community projects, and unique features of our heartlands!

The Friends of Our Heartlands Appreciation Ceremony is an annual event to recognise and thank our volunteers for their contributions in making a difference in the community.
This year’s Appreciation Ceremony was held at Kampung Admiralty Community Plaza on 25 May 2019. Around 170 volunteers joined us for the event and received awards for their dedication and commitment in reaching out to the community.

The Good Neighbour Award (GNA) Ceremony was held at Oasis Terraces on 1 Jun 2019 to recognise and honour individuals who have gone the extra mile to enrich their community with acts of care and neighbourliness.

Tapping on HDB’s Friendly Places Lively Places Fund, Temasek Polytechnic organised the inaugural Silver Fitness and Wellness Carnival at Bedok Town Square, on 26 May 2019. The carnival included workshops, talks and an exhibition for the elderly. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed between HDB and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) at the Carnival. The MOU will see TP students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences’ Diploma in Gerontology engaging the elderly through HDB’s community programmes over the next three years.
Broom It! Day 2019 is an annual event under Project SPHERE organised to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and care for the elderly.
This year, Broom It! Day was held at Punggol Place on 29 May 2019, 2:30pm to 6:30pm. Close to 390 participants gave back to the community by spring cleaning homes of elderly residents living in HDB rental flats, distributing elderly friendly bedside tables (EASY tables), and conducting a photo frame painting workshop. A new Singapore Book Of Records for the Largest Collage of Painted Photo Frames was also set at Broom It! Day 2019.
