Eligibility Criteria and Schemes

You can apply for the Public Rental Scheme (PRS) as a family or a single, if you have no family support or other housing options.

Scheme	Eligibility Criteria
Family Scheme	You must be a Singapore Citizen (SC) You must be at least 21 years old You must include another SC or a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) to form a family nucleus Your family nucleus must comprise one of the following: If single, you and your parents I f married, you and your spouse If orphaned, you and your siblings If engaged, you and your fiancé / fiancée If widowed/ divorced, you and your children under your sole care and control The following households may also request for rental housing. We will contact you to understand more about your situation, and will consider your request in the best interest of your children. Single unmarried parent Non-SC single parent with SC child Divorced parent with shared care and control
ComLink Rental Scheme (for families)	If you have any children below 21 years old, your application will come under the ComLink Rental Scheme. Eligibility conditions are the same as the Family Scheme. Find out more about the Comlink Rental Scheme.
Joint Singles Scheme	You and your proposed applicant(s) must be SCs You and your proposed applicant(s) must be one of the following: Single and at least 35 years old Divorced or legally separated, and at least 35 years old Widowed or orphaned, and at least 21 years old
Joint Singles Scheme Operator-Run (JSS-OR) Pilot	Eligibility conditions are the same as the Joint Singles Scheme. You can apply alone, and the JSS-OR operator will assign a flatmate to you. Find out more about the JSS-OR Pilot.

Income

Your income will be used to assess your housing budget and options. We do not reject or accept applicants based purely on income.

Applications are reviewed holistically, taking into account household size and individual circumstances.

Most of our applicants have a household income below $1,500. If yours is above $1,500, you can still submit an application and we will evaluate your eligibility accordingly.

Property ownership

Everyone in your application should not have any ownership, interest or estate in any property (local or overseas, building or land, residential or otherwise).

If you previously owned property, the sales proceeds from your last property will be considered when we assess your housing budget.

Existing HDB residents

Everyone in your application should not be owners or essential occupiers of an HDB flat. Existing tenants under HDB's rental schemes are also not eligible.

Family support

You will not be eligible if any of your children is:

Able to house you in their home; or
Financially able to provide housing for you (e.g., to rent on the open market).

Everyone in your application will be assessed for family support.

Note:

An individual who has been barred under any rule, regulation, or policy by the government or HDB may not be eligible for the Public Rental Scheme.
