HDB Community Week 2017

More than being a provider of homes, HDB also builds active and cohesive communities.

An annual celebration of the community spirit in our heartlands, HDB Community Week showcases the rich tapestry of Singapore’s heartland experiences – our neighbours, our communities, and our towns!

HDB Community Week 2017 was held at Punggol Town Square from 27 May to 2 June 2017.

Good Neighbours

First launched in 2009, the Good Neighbour Award (GNA) honours exemplary neighbours in our heartlands.

‘Good Neighbours, Great Communities’ Publication

The second edition of our ‘The HeART of Neighbourliness’ publication, titled ‘Good Neighbours, Great Communities’ was launched at the opening of HDB Community Week 2017 by Minister of National Development, Mr Lawrence Wong. It features the inspiring stories of some of our Good Neighbour Award 2015 recipients and Good Neighbours Project 2016 teams, and a project initiated under our Friendly Faces, Lively Places fund.

Great Communities

Friends of Our Heartlands

Announced by Minister for National Development, Mr Lawrence Wong, at the launch of HDB Community Week 2017, ‘Friends of Our Heartlands’ is a consolidation of our volunteer networks.

Under the rebranded network, volunteers will have more opportunities to participate in a wide range of community projects. You can choose how you wish to contribute to the community under 3 tracks:

  • Cultivate better HDB living
  • Activate our HDB spaces
  • Facilitate community conversations and help their communities build consensus on estate matters

Friendly Faces, Lively Places Fund

Launched in 2016, the Friendly Faces, Lively Places Fund provides funding for our residents to initiate community-driven projects at HDB spaces. The fund provides up to $10,000 per project, and more than 18 projects have been implemented across the heartlands.

Youth in Our Heartlands

No one is too young to make a difference in their community. Through our initiatives for the young and youth, the younger generation can play their part in building caring and cohesive communities.

Vibrant Towns

What makes a lively town? Take a peek at how activities, sketches, and technology come together to inject some fun and colour into our neighbourhoods!

Town Plazas

HDB is developing new towns/community plazas under the Remaking Our Heartland (ROH) programme. Bedok and Punggol Town Squares were opened in May 2016 and January 2017 respectively. Look out for the upcoming town/ community plazas at Kampung Admiralty, Yishun, Woodlands, and Pasir Ris.

As part of HDB's effort in building active and cohesive communities, we have developed the 'Our Heartland Trails' mobile application for residents to learn more about the towns at their convenience!
