Meeting More Housing Needs in 2013

Minister for National Development Mr Khaw Boon Wan announced several new housing measures on 8 March 2013. They are intended to provide more help for first-timers, second-timers, divorcees, singles and the elderly in buying a subsidised flat from HDB. Some aspects to note include:
    1. Reduction in the time bar for divorced couples to each buy a subsidised flat from 5 to 3 years.
      - This also applies to buyers of resale flats who are eligible for a CPF Housing Grant.
    2. Revised subletting rules.
      - Plan to impose a quota on non-citizen subtenants renting entire HDB flats and bedrooms.
      - Reduction of the maximum approved subletting period from 3 years to 1.5 years.
You may refer to the Press Release for more information.
