                This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 4th Quarter 2018.

     

    HDB Resale Market

     

    2          The Resale Price Index (RPI) fell by 0.2%, from 131.6 in 3rd Quarter 2018 to 131.4 in 4th Quarter 2018 (see Annex A).  The RPI for the full year of 2018 registered a decline of 0.9%.

     

    3          Resale transactions fell by 20.2%, from 7,063 cases in 3rd Quarter 2018 to 5,637 cases in 4th Quarter 2018 (see Annex B). Compared to 4th Quarter 2017, resale transactions in 4th Quarter 2018 were 1.8% lower.  For the full year of 2018, resale transactions increased by 4.6%, from 22,077 cases in 2017 to 23,099 cases.

     

    4          The median resale prices in the various towns in 4th Quarter 2018 are tabulated in Annex C.

     

    HDB Rental Market

     

    5          The median rents in the various towns in 4th Quarter 2018 are tabulated in Annex D.

     

    6          The number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats rose by 2.3%, from 11,216 cases in 3rd Quarter 2018 to 11,479 cases in 4th Quarter 2018 (see Annex E). Compared to 4th Quarter 2017, the number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats in 4th Quarter 2018 was 1.8% higher. As at 31 Dec 2018, there were 56,742 HDB flats rented out, an increase of 1.2% over 3rd Quarter 2018 (56,074 units).

     

    Upcoming Sales Launch

     

    7          In 2019, HDB will launch about 15,000 new flats for sale.  The first Build-To-Order (BTO) exercise of the year will be launched in February with an offer of about 3,100 flats in Jurong West, Kallang Whampoa and Sengkang. More information on these BTO flats is available on the HDB InfoWEB.  There will also be a concurrent Re-Offer of Balance Flats exercise.
