                This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 4th Quarter 2016.

     

    HDB Resale Market

     

    2          The Resale Price Index (RPI) fell by 0.1%, from 134.7 in 3rd Quarter 2016 to 134.6 in 4th Quarter 2016 (see Annex A). The RPI for the full year of 2016 registered a decline of 0.1%.

     

    3          Resale transactions fell by 9.1%, from 5,514 cases in 3rd Quarter 2016 to 5,012 cases in 4th Quarter 2016 (see Annex B). For the full year of 2016, the number of resale transactions increased by 7.8%, from 19,306 cases in 2015 to 20,813 cases.

     

    4          The median resale prices in the various towns are tabulated in Annex C.

     

    HDB Rental Market

     

    5          The median subletting rents in the various towns in 4th Quarter 2016 are tabulated in Annex D

     

    6          The number of applications approved for subletting of HDB flat fell by 1.0%, from 10,789 cases in 3rd Quarter 2016 to 10,678 cases in 4th Quarter 2016 (see Annex E).  As at 31 Dec 2016, 52,941 HDB flats were sublet, an increase of 1.0% over 3rd Quarter 2016 (52,394 units).

     

    Upcoming Sales Launches

     

    7          In 2017, HDB will offer about 17,000 new flats for sale in Build-To-Order (BTO) exercises.  For the first BTO exercise to be launched in February 2017, HDB will offer about 4,100 flats in Clementi, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands.  More information on these BTO flats are available on the HDB InfoWEB.
