Release of 2nd Quarter 2020 Public Housing Data
This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 2nd Quarter 2020.
2 The Resale Price Index (RPI) for 2nd Quarter 2020 is 131.9, an increase of 0.3% over that in 1st Quarter 2020 (see Annex A).
3 Arising from the implementation of circuit breaker measures from 7 April to 1 June 2020, resale transactions fell by 41.9%, from 5,893 cases in 1st Quarter 2020 to 3,426 cases in 2nd Quarter 2020 (see Annex B). Compared to 2nd Quarter 2019, resale transactions in 2nd Quarter 2020 were 45.4% lower.
4 The median resale prices in the various towns in 2nd Quarter 2020 are tabulated in Annex C.

6 The number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats fell by 9.1%, from 11,591 cases in 1st Quarter 2020 to 10,539 cases in 2nd Quarter 2020 (see Annex E). Compared to 2nd Quarter 2019, the number of approved applications in 2nd Quarter 2020 was 14.6% lower. As at the end of 2nd Quarter 2020, there were 57,693 HDB flats rented out, an increase of 0.1% over the previous quarter (57,652 units).
7 In August 2020, HDB will offer about 7,800 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Choa Chu Kang, Geylang, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Tengah and Woodlands. In November 2020, HDB will offer about 5,700 flats in Bishan, Sembawang, Tampines, Tengah and Toa Payoh. The BTO flats in Choa Chu Kang and Tampines North (August 2020) and Tengah (November 2020) will have shorter waiting times. More information on the BTO flats are available on the HDB InfoWEB.
8 There are also flats available for open booking. Eligible flat buyers may apply online at HDB InfoWEB on a first-come-first-served basis, and book a unit as early as the next working day, where possible.
