Release of 4th Quarter 2020 Public Housing Data
This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 4th Quarter 2020.
2 The Resale Price Index (RPI) for 4th Quarter 2020 is 138.1, an increase of 3.1% over that in 3rd Quarter 2020 (see Annex A). The RPI for the whole year of 2020 registered an increase of 5.0%
3 Resale transactions fell by 1.9%, from 7,787 cases in 3rd Quarter 2020 to 7,642 cases in 4th Quarter 2020 (see Annex B). Compared to 4th Quarter 2019, resale transactions in 4th Quarter 2020 were 20.6% higher. For the whole year of 2020, resale transactions increased by 4.4%, from 23,714 cases to 24,748 cases.

6 The number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats rose by 3.4%, from 8,196 cases in 3rd Quarter 2020 to 8,472 cases in 4th Quarter 2020 (see Annex E). Compared to 4th Quarter 2019, the number of approved applications in 4th Quarter 2020 was 29.9% lower. As at the end of 4th Quarter 2020, there were 59,092 HDB flats rented out, a slight increase of 0.05% over the previous quarter (59,063 units).
7 In February 2021, HDB will offer about 3,700 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in Bukit Batok, Kallang Whampoa, Tengah and Toa Payoh. This includes the new Community Care Apartments in Bukit Batok. In May 2021, HDB will offer another 3,800 BTO flats in Bukit Merah, Geylang, Tengah and Woodlands. More information on the BTO flats is available on the HDB InfoWEB. Given the economic uncertainty due to COVID-19, HDB is monitoring the housing market closely and will calibrate the supply if required.
