Marine Parade is the first housing estate built on reclaimed land and it is home to about 21,600 HDB residents. There are 7,862 flats under our management within the area (as of 31 March 2018).
Marine Parade was originally named after a promenade near the sea along East Coast Road.
Before land reclamation works, the area was part of Katong, and used to be a beach front.
Land reclamation works began in 1966, and the first housing blocks were built on Marine Parade in 1972. By March 1975, over 7,000 units of flats had been completed.
Today, Marine Parade is a self-sufficient estate with commercial, recreational and leisure facilities woven amongst the housing developments. The estate’s proximity to the sea also gives it a laid-back and relaxed feel. By 2024, Marine Parade Estate will also be served by 2 MRT stations along the new Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).
Residents of Marine Parade Estate have easy access to the regional recreational park just across the East Coast Parkway through underpasses linking the estate. For recreation, East Coast Park is a favourite destination for residents and Singaporeans alike.
