More Housing Choices With Tender Of Two Executive Condominium (EC) Sites

               Households with monthly incomes of up to $10,000 can look forward to more housing choices as HDB launches the tender of two Executive Condominium (EC) housing sites in Sengkang and Yishun tomorrow. These sites have a combined yield of about 900 units. Eligible first-timers who purchase new ECs can also apply for a $30,000 CPF housing grant.

    Details of Sites

    2         On behalf of the Government, HDB is inviting tenders for the sale of two EC housing sites at Compassvale Bow (Sengkang E6) and Yishun Avenue 11 (Yishun E3), under the Confirmed List of the Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme from 15 Jan 2010 (Fri) onwards. The tender for Sengkang E6 will close on 4 Mar 2010 (Thurs) and the tender for Yishun E3 will close on 11 Mar 2010 (Thurs). The details are as follows, and the site maps are at Annex A (486KB).

    3         Sengkang E6 is located near to Buangkok MRT station and is easily accessible from major expressways such as TPE and KPE. Grocery shopping facilities and eateries are a stone’s throw away. Recreational choices such as Punggol Park and Sengkang Sports and Recreation Centre are within easy reach.

    4         Yishun is a middle-aged HDB town nestled in the Northern Region of Singapore. Yishun E3 is well served by a comprehensive network of roads and expressways such as Yishun Avenue 2 and SLE. Yishun and Khatib MRT stations and Yishun bus interchange are also within the vicinity. The site is also only a few minutes’ walk from Yishun Park and is near to shopping and dining conveniences. Yishun E3 will offer more housing options in Yishun under the "Remaking Our Heartland" plan to rejuvenate communities in middle-aged towns/estates.

    EC - An Additional Housing Option

    5         EC projects are strata-titled apartments with facilities comparable to private condominiums. New EC units are sold with initial eligibility and ownership restrictions similar to public housing, and will be fully converted to private housing after 10 years. ECs cater to families who are beyond the $8,000 income eligibility criterion for new HDB flats. They provide an additional housing option to meet the housing aspirations of families earning up to $10,000.

    6         Eligible first-timers who purchase new ECs can also apply for a $30,000 CPF housing grant. Since 2007, the EC Housing Scheme has been refined to better meet the needs of homebuyers:

    · EC developers will set aside 95% of flat supply for first-timers during the first month of sale; and
    · Second-timers buying new ECs do not need to pay any resale levy.
