Rectification Work for New Flats

We build every flat to stringent quality standards and, in line with industry practice, all newly completed HDB flats are covered by a warranty within the 1-year Defects Liability Period (DLP).

The DLP for new HDB flats is effective from the date of key collection. During this time, we will follow up on items in the flat that require rectification.

It is important that you report the items within 7 days of receiving keys or before you start renovation works to your flat.

If you find any items that need rectification during or after the renovation works, you may have to carry out the rectification works at your own costs as the items may have been caused by the renovation works.


Within the 1-year DLP

You can report the items that require rectification to your Building Service Centre (BSC). If the BSC has ceased its operations, you can submit a maintenance request online.

Building Service Centre (BSC)

We welcome you and your family to your new HDB home. To assist you, we have opened a temporary BSC within walking distance from your home. Full-time Customer Relations Officers and technical staff will be there to attend to your queries and feedback.

Time Frame

It is necessary to inspect your new flat once you have collected your keys. Any items that require rectification should be reported before either of these:

  • 7 days of receiving the keys
  • Commencing renovation work

Rectification Procedure

Following your report, the BSC will arrange to:

  • Inspect your flat with you
  • Assign contractors to carry out the rectification

Completion of Rectification

Upon the completion of the rectification work, the BSC will arrange another joint inspection with you.

If the BSC has ceased operation, you can submit your maintenance request online.

After the 1-year DLP

You can engage a repair contractor to rectify issues after the 1-year DLP. If you require further assistance, you can also approach your HDB Branch.

Under the Agreement for Lease, homeowners are responsible for keeping the fittings and fixtures in their flats in good condition. If the DLP for your flat has passed, please engage a contractor to carry out the necessary repairs.
