Living With/ Near Parents or Married Child

The Proximity Housing Grant (PHG) has been introduced to help more families to buy a resale flat to live with or close to each other for mutual care and support. Eligible singles will also enjoy the PHG if they buy a resale flat with or near their parents' residence.

Enhancements to Proximity Housing Grant

Assistance for

  • Family - Married/ engaged couples or families who are buying an HDB resale flat to live with or near their parents/ married child
  • Singles - Singles buying an HDB resale flat to live with or near their parents

Eligibility

Citizenship
  • You are a Singapore Citizen. At least one of your parents or married child must be a Singapore Permanent Resident or a Singapore Citizen.
  • Family

Your family nucleus must comprise at least another Singapore Permanent Resident or a Singapore Citizen.

Age
  • Family

You must be aged 21 years or above.

  • Singles

You must be aged:

  • 35 years or above, if you are single and applying for resale flat under any of the following schemes:
    • Single Singapore Citizen Scheme
    • Joint Singles Scheme
    • Public Scheme (if parents are included in the resale application as co-applicants or occupants)

or

  • 21 years or above, if you are married and applying for resale flat under the Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme
Family Nucleus
  • Family

You are applying with your:

  • spouse and children (if any), or
  • fiancé/ fiancée (a photocopy of your marriage certificate must be submitted within 3 months from the resale completion date, if your marriage is registered overseas), or
  • children under your legal custody, care and control (if widowed/divorced#)

#If the care and control of your children under the age of 21 is shared with your ex-spouse, you must obtain his/her written agreement before you can list your children in a flat application.

You have not received the PHG previously.

Proximity Condition

Your parents/ married child/ single child aged 35 and above are:

  • living with you in the resale flat you intend to buy
  • living in an HDB flat or a private residential property, which is within 4 km of the resale flat you intend to buy

Do note that:

  • At least one of your parents/ child must be a Singapore Permanent Resident.
  • If your parents/ child do not own the private residential property, it must be owned by their immediate family members (defined as child or adopted child, parent(s) or parent(s)-in-law, or siblings).
