In 2012, HDB unveiled our first major plan to bring sustainable living to existing public housing estates – the HDB Greenprint.
The HDB Greenprint adopts a community-oriented approach towards building sustainable towns. Various urban solutions and hardware initiatives have since been piloted at Yuhua (Blocks 209 to 240 Jurong East Street 31).
In addition, several programmes such as the Eco Learning Journeys and Heartland Ambassadors Visiting You (HAV.U) have also been rolled out to enable the Yuhua community to step up their efforts in eco-living.
In particular, the resident gardeners of Yuhua Zone 2 collaborated with the students from Shuqun Secondary School to design and co-create a flourishing community garden in the neighbourhood. The school has since adopted the garden, together with the Yuhua Residents’ Committee.
Through these programmes, we hope the community can take greater ownership of your living environment.
Our vision for Greenprint is to 'Create sustainable homes together with the community'.
HDB flats are home to a significant segment of Singapore’s population. Thus, it is essential that we work together with you to reduce consumption and promote eco-practices in existing and new HDB towns. Through the HDB Greenprint, we have a comprehensive and integrated framework of goals and strategies to guide town development in alignment with Singapore’s Sustainable Blueprint targets.
