Eco Learning Journey

The Eco Learning Journey is a half-day guided tour to eco-destinations in Punggol, Singapore’s very first Eco-Town.

The Eco Learning Journey is open to students and Punggol residents. You will get to see and experience the many green innovations in Punggol that support eco-friendly high-rise living.

Punggol Waterway is also known as My Waterway@Punggol, and has some impressive figures behind its creation!

My Waterway@Punggol

Beyond being a treasure trove of nature’s wonders, the scenic waterway also showcases green technologies. From freshwater mangroves that clean the water, to themed outdoor furniture made from recycled materials, Punggol Waterway is an outstanding achievement in urban sustainability.

Punggol Waterway has won numerous accolades, including a prestigious international award – the Grand Prize for Excellence in Environmental Engineering, awarded by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Flanked by Waterway Point Mall and My Waterway @ Punggol, the new Punggol Town Square is a great gathering point for Punggol residents, where they can come together and mingle while enjoying various events and activities.

Eco Learning Journey with Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School on 3, 4 & 7 November 2016

On 3, 4, and 7 Nov, Primary 5 students from Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School went on an Eco Learning Journey to Treelodge@Punggol and My Waterway@Punggol. At Singapore’s first eco-precinct Treelodge@Punggol, students learnt about various green designs and technologies implemented to enable residents to lead a sustainable lifestyle. At My Waterway@Punggol, students learnt about the eco-features like eco drain, marginal planting, and surface aerators.


Eco Learning Journey with ITE College East on 7 September 2016

ITE College East students from the Engineering Course participated in the Eco Learning Journey to learn more about sustainable living. Through the scavenger hunt at the Punggol Waterway, they learnt about Punggol’s heritage and its sustainable eco-features. They also picked up tips on eco-living and learnt about the importance of having a sustainable built environment at Treelodge@ Punggol.


Eco Learning Journey with Punggol View Primary School on 29, 30, and 31 August 2016

The primary 3 students from Punggol View Primary School participated in the Eco Learning Journeys at Treelodge@Punggol.  They learnt about Punggol – Singapore’s first eco-precinct, its history, and various the eco-features at Treelodge like the Eco-deck, Green Spine, and making use of natural ventilation and lighting. Senior Ambassadors were also invited to guide the Learning Journeys held on 31 August 2016. 


Eco Learning Journey with Coral Primary School on 19 August 2016

Students from Coral Primary School participated in the Eco Learning Journey at Treelodge@Punggol and My Waterway@Punggol. They got the opportunity to tour Singapore’s first eco-precinct, learning about the Eco Deck, Green Spine, and various other eco-features. The group also picked up new information about the features in waterway, such as the aerators, marginal plantings and eco-drain.


Eco Learning Journey with Anchor Green Primary School on 11 August 2016

A group of students from Anchor Green Primary School’s Green Club took part in the Eco Learning Journey to My Waterway @ Punggol and Treelodge@Punggol. The students were excited to go on the scavenger hunt at the Waterway, learning about the eco-features and Punggol’s heritage while searching for the answers. During the tour of Treelodge, they also learnt about features like the playground made from recycled materials, rubbish chute for recyclables and dual bicycle racks.


Eco Learning Journey with Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) on 14 July 2016

On 14 July 2016, students from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) went for an Eco-Learning Journey at My Waterway @ Punggol. They learnt more of the eco-features that was have been incorporated into the waterway. They also learnt about how the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) was applied to the features at Treelodge@Punggol, such as the playground made entirely out of recycled materials, and the car-sharing scheme for residents.


Eco Learning Journey with Nanyang Girls' High School on 21 June 2016

A group of students from Nanyang Girls' High School took some time off their school holidays to participate in our Eco Learning Journey on 21 June 2016. For most of them, it was their first time visiting the Treelodge@Punggol and the Punggol Waterway. They were introduced to many eco-features at these destinations, like the dual chutes for recyclables, rainwater harvesting system and the playground at Treelodge made from recycled materials.


Eco Learning Journey with Da Qiao Primary School on 21 April 2016

On 21 April 2016, a group of Primary 3, 4, and 5 students from Da Qiao Primary School participated in the Eco-Learning Journey at the Punggol Waterway and Treelodge@Punggol. Students enthusiastically took part in the Punggol Waterway Photo Scavenger Hunt and got to learn about the heritage of Punggol and eco-features at the waterway. They also learnt about the greening and energy savings features of the eco-precinct Treelodge@Punggol.


Eco Learning Journey with Tanjong Katong Girls' School on 31 March 2016

On 31 March 2016, Secondary 1 Students from Tanjong Katong Girls' School came on board HDB's Eco Learning Journey. The car sharing scheme at the Treelodge@Punggol was refreshing to the participants as they learnt how it promoted clean commuting by reducing carbon emission. Participants enthusiastically snapped photographs of the eco-features at Punggol Waterway, and the tour was concluded with them expressing their creativity by drawing their favorite feature of the Waterway. 


Eco Learning Journey with Bukit View Primary School on 15 and 22 February 2016

The Senior Heartland Ambassadors led Primary 4 students from Bukit View Primary School around Treelodge@Punggol and Punggol Waterway on 15 and 22 February 2016. At Treelodge@Punggol, the ambassadors explained how the Recycled Playground is made using recycled material such as plastic, steel and aluminium. During the Photo Scavenger Hunt segment, the students also learnt about how practising recycling was important to save our environment.
