Chargeable Events

There are two types of chargeable events under Heartland Talks:

a. Resale Seminars

Conducted in different languages, we have resale seminars that specifically cover the policies and procedures for purchasing or selling an HDB resale flat, and practical aspects for handling a property purchase or sale such as:

  • Planning your finances when purchasing an HDB resale flat
  • Learning how to work out the estimated sale proceeds
  • Knowing the procedures required for the Option to Purchase

Here is a schedule for the year. Classes are limited to 100 participants each. Please sign up early as registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.

b. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses

We also conduct core Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for salespersons handling HDB resale transactions.

The CPD Training Roadmap was introduced by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) to guide Key Executive Officers and salesperson in building up their capability and professionalism.

Here is a schedule for the year. Interested salesperson are advised to sign up early as classes are limited to 100 participants each.

This talk was held on 27 May 2017 (Saturday), 2.00pm to 4.30pm, at HDB Auditorium. In collaboration with Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board), Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) and The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), the talk was attended by 315 participants. Participants learnt about HDB housing options for first-timers, the use of CPF savings for housing, tips on engaging a property agent, and advice on housing and renovation loans.

Starting a Business in Your HDB Flat, on 22 April 2017

This talk was held on 22 April 2017 (Saturday), from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, at the HDB Auditorium and reached out to 191 participants. In collaboration with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board) and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), participants learnt about HDB Home Office Scheme, the types of business entities and requirements of setting up a business in Singapore, CPF’s responsibilities and tax obligations of a self-employed person. A home entrepreneur also shared his experience of setting up his very own home office with the participants.

Subletting Your HDB Flat/Room, on 11 March 2017

This talk was held on 11 March 2017 (Saturday), from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at Punggol Room, HDB Hub. In collaboration with the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), the talk was attended by 88 participants. These participants learnt about HDB’s subletting policies and procedures, guides on conducting mandatory checks before subletting, tips on engaging a property agent and the stamping of tenancy agreements.

This talk was held on 24 September 2016 (Saturday), from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, at the HDB Auditorium and reached out to about 213 participants. In collaboration with the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board), and Institute for Financial Literacy (IFL), the participants learnt about the various housing options and schemes for second-timers, tips on engaging a property agent; and took home pointers on using CPF for housing purpose and financial advice on the various types of mortgage loans.

Subletting Your HDB Flat/Room, on 20 August 2016

In collaboration with the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA), and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), we reached out to 134 participants who were keen to find out about HDB subletting policies and procedures, mandatory checks before subletting, the stamping of tenancy agreement, and tips on engaging a property agent. They also learnt about managing conflicts through a skit brought by the Community Mediation Centre (CMC)

Enriching Your Golden Years, on 30 July 2016

This talk was held on 30 July 2016 (Saturday), from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, at the HDB Auditorium and reached out to 126 participants. In collaboration with the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board) and Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), the participants brought home information on the various monetisation options for their HDB flat, the making of a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) to protect their interests and the Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE) programme. 

Through the exhibition on EASE programme, participants also had an opportunity to view the improvement items to be installed in HDB flats, which helped to improve mobility and comfort for elderly residents.

In collaboration with the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board), Institute for Financial Literacy (IFL), Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), and Fei Yue Family Service Centre, this talk was attended by 220 participants. Participants took home information on HDB housing options and financial advice for first-timers, the use of CPF savings for housing, tips on engaging a property agent, and ways to speak the right love language for better communication with their partner.

Care for Your Home & the Environment, on 30 April 2016

This talk was held on 30 April 2016 (Saturday), from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the HDB Auditorium, and was attended by 175 participants. In collaboration with National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Renovation and Decoration Advisory Centre (RADAC), participants learnt about home renovation guidelines, latest renovation trend, fire safety in home, as well as home maintenance tips.

The participants also took the opportunity to find out more about windows safety through the exhibition brought together by HDB and Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
